We all know the infamy of fall’s Pumpkin Spice Latte, so I won’t bother getting into its popularity here. Funnily enough, I’m actually not a huge #PSL fan (I’m more a spiced cider gal), but C is borderline obsessed. Though he used to also be a coffee addict, a few years ago he developed a hyper-sensitivity to caffeine, so we’ve had to make a lot of modifications to some of old faves. (And I have never really been a coffee/caffeine person in general, so caffeine free is where it’s at in our house.)
While we’ve made him homemade versions of a decaf PSL in years past (and he will once in a blue moon treat himself to a “real” one), this season we took it upon ourselves to experiment with a cleaner, more nutritious version of a Pumpkin Spice Latte so C can drink them all the time. 😆
We wanted to stay away from decaf coffee since it really holds no significant nutritional value, and we are already big fans of Teecino so it was like a lightbulb moment to use the Caramel Nut flavor as our base. We spent an afternoon in the kitchen pretending to be mad scientists, experimenting with flavors and quantities until we got what C deems as delicious — as he says, it doesn’t taste like the overly sugary/chemical laden PSL you might be used to from a certain coffee chain, but instead it tastes like a REAL pumpkin spice beverage.
And once you have all the ingredients, it’s super simple to make — just blend it all up!

Clean Pumpkin Spice Latte (No Coffee, Caffeine Free, Dairy Free)
- 2 cups brewed Caramel Nut Teecino* (we use a french press!)
- 1/2 cup non-dairy creamer (for an extra flavor boost, use a dairy free pumpkin spice creamer*!)
- 1/8 cup pumpkin
- 1/2 – 1 tsp pumpkin spice*
- 1 TBSP date syrup*
- 1 TBSP quality maple syrup (Grade A Dark is our fave)
- pinch of salt
Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender, and blend on medium-high for a minute or two, or until everything is well-mixed.
We’ll usually triple the recipe to make a pitcher full to keep in the fridge — he prefers them iced anyway, but you can always heat up on the stove for a warm cup.
